1- How To Prevent Pine Needles From Getting Into Gutters
How To Keep Pine Needles Out Of Gutters
Do you need to know how to keep pine needles out of gutters?
Pine needles are the most challenging tree debris there is to keep out of gutters. One fellow bought the finest mesh he could possibly find. He made three layers of it and covered his gutter feeling confident that he had solved his problem.
Not so: A year later his gutters inside were clogged. How was that possible? His pine needles were three inches long and there were three needles in each pod.
Like finely tuned swords they pierced through the 3 layers of fine mesh and clogged his gutters.
Problem is that with any type of screen, they will either pierce through it or accumulate as a thatched roof on top of the screen. Either way the result is the same—overflowing gutters.
The only hope is for a solid top gutter cover to do the job. But take a look at most of the designs. The pine needles simply lineup horizontally across the cover and get washed through the collector and clog the gutter.
However, one design has defied every type of pine needle to penetrate it. That design is the interspersed double row louvered Waterloov® gutter guard. Why?
Answer: there are no openings in the horizontal plane—all openings are in the vertical plane. For any pine needle to penetrate it has to hit the louver exactly and over two decades of experience says this is as likely to happen as it is for one to win the big multi state lottery—it just doesn’t happen.
Take a look at the end of our short 1 minute video as we open up a 20 year install to see what debris managed to get into the system.
