1- Micro Mesh Gutter Guard
Are you looking for a micro mesh gutter guard?
Micro mesh gutter guards are quite new to the gutter guard world. However, the concept isn’t. They are basically a version of screens that have been around since the early 1900’s. The basic screens either had:
- large openings that allowed enough debris into the gutters to clog them, or
- they were flimsy and blew out of the gutter, or
- they accumulated debris on top of them in sufficient quantity to clog the screen.
Micro mesh gutter guards are basically the same as number three above. The only difference is that they are made of stainless steel mesh.
However, there is one big difference. Most gutter screens can be bought for a couple dollars a foot or you can have them installed for a few dollars a foot. The new micro mesh gutter guards cost upwards of twenty some dollars a foot to have installed and provide no more protection than one of the cheaper screens.
And consider this, you still end up with exposed fascia board that can rot with debris accumulating next to them as they retain moisture.
Micro mesh guards were one of the types we reviewed in our various testing. We compared it to our Waterloov® gutter guards that we manufacture. We do this with all gutter guards that come to the market. Our tests showed that the micro mesh gutter guard certainly prevents anything from getting into the gutters. However, as previously noted, they also get easily blocked with debris, causing water to pool or even sheet over the gutters and straight toward your foundation.
